After 12 years of retirement in Nashville, TN where spent most of my time as
Deacon, Docent at Nashville Zoo, Reading Tutor at Elementary School and 2
years in retirement community, McKendree Village in a suburb of Nashville, TN

My career included: (1) Youth Minister in TX & FL, (2) Pioneer Royal Ambassador Director for the Southern Baptist Convention, Memphis, (3) Minister of Education, Dallas (4) 22 years at the Baptist Sunday School Board and LifeWay Christian Resources as discipleship editor, marketing/promotion coordinator and product development coordinator, Nashville, (5) International Mission Board missionary to The Gambia, West Africa, 3 years until retirement in Nashville as described above. Now loving life in Costa Rica! Pura Vida!

I was the shy boy all through high school. After the sophomore year I went with several Rogers band members to a summer band camp in Gunnison, Colorado, my first big trip and I've loved to travel ever since! I was one of the founders of the Will Rogers Medical Club for students interested in medical professions and the program chair one year. In our senior year I was honored by the Optimist Club of Tulsa with their "Good Citizenship Award" along with Donna Carlson of Rogers. I thought it funny that the newspaper called us "The Typical Jane & Joe," while I considered myself not typical. I attended OU in Norman for 3 semesters and when my parents moved back to Arkansas and I was an "out of state student" at a price I couldn't afford, I transferred to Ouachita Baptist College in Arkadelphia, AR where I graduated in 1962 with BA in Sociology/Psychology. I graduated from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in 1965 with an MRE, Masters of Religious Education, and found my first job as youth minister in Miami, Florida. Fun!
